Business & Enterprise | Supply & Demand
L.I: to know what happens around the world and what business is.
This week for inquiry Mr Oglivie invited a guest named Michal to come and talk to us about her business and how many foods are getting wasted. Michal's business is called FoodPrint. She has been doing this for 6 months.
The price range is $70 and $1. There are over 20 million loaves of bread being wasted every year in New Zealand. Wasting food can be bad for the environment, it makes extreme weathers and disasters. Footprint is a site that you can go and buy some food that is healthy or junk. There is 17,401 people using Michal's app and there is about 250 food stores working with Foodprint.

Inquiry | Businesses
LI: To learn what enterprise and business means.
This week we learned the definitions of Enterprise and Business. Our task was to (in groups of 3) make a slide and list as many companies including information like what that company sells/does, and the price range. My group decided to include extra information instead of having plain space. At first we needed to discuss about what we thought Business and Enterprise meant. On our slide, we included what we thought it meant and what it really means.

Rube Goldberg Machines
L.I to make a Rube Goldberg machine with the six simple machines.
For Inquiry we were challenged to build a similar machine as Rube Goldberg. A challenge was you had to use one of the simple machines which are Incline Plane, Pulley, Screw, Wheel and Axle and a Lever. My groups challenge was to try to turn on the Chromebook. Our Machine had included, Levers, Incline Plane and a screw. We had also used parts of our body to finish of the machine. Our machine was successfully working. The materials that we had used were Cardboard(for Incline Plane), Domino's, Pan Balance, Marbles and books.
The biggest challenges we had to face was trying to get the materials to stay up still and trying to figure out what's gonna happen next.
I think if we were to do this again I would've bought more materials and incorporated more and included others ideas.

Inquiry | Pulley
L.I: To know what Pulley is and what it can do
Today we were learning about the activity Pulley. For this game you will need to have 2 sticks and some rope. There would need to be 2 or more students on each of the sticks and the person in the middle would need to pull. If they can't pull they would need to use the rope that is looping around the sticks. The person that is pulling the rope would need to pull hard because there would be strong people holding the sticks. We even need to finish of our poster. We needed to write down the answers for the 3 questions and we needed to create a machine that has pulley included. Pulley can move things and pulley is hidden in elevators and cars.
