Maths


Today in maths we worked together in our thinking groups to find the answer to two maths questions. In the image you would see my group working together. Our group, The numbertricians group is working out the value in our name. To do this we used addition strategies and our place value knowledge. 

In the second activity we worked as a group to put the population numbers in order. To do this we used our place value knowledge.

Basic Facts Boxes

This week for Maths I did Basic Facts boxes. The things that i did was Addition and Subtraction. Subtraction is making the number go less and Addition is making things go more up. Paper Airplane | Maths

L.I: to make a paper airplane 
This week for maths we were learning how to make a paper plane. We had to test how long the paper plane would stay in the air and measuring how far the plane would travel. We also needed to make a graph about the Distance & Time. My prediction wasn't correct the distance was over 7 and the time was over 1.

This week for maths we were learning about what sports do people like. Basketball was the highest and Tennis was the lowest. 15 students pick Basketball and 3 students picked tennis. For this maths task we needed to work individually. We needed to go to all the students in the class.

L.I: to figure out ways to solve these questions.
This week for maths we needed to try and figure out some ways how to solve these 2 questions. For this maths task we needed to work individually. The questions that we needed to solve was Alayah had 75 pens. She destroyed 29 of them. How many pens does she have left?, and Alayah had 5 pizzas and no friends to share it with. Each pizza has 8 pieces How many are there altogether.

Stamen length graph

L.I:to know the lengths of the pencils that are in LS1.
This week for Maths we were learning how to know the lengths of all the pencils that are in LS1. For this maths task we needed to work individually. We needed collect all the pencils and measure them with a ruler. When we were doing the measuring we needed to work in a group of 4. I grouped up with Jaylee, Angelica, Leitu. This maths task was hard when we needed to add it all up but it was easy when we did the stamen length graph.

Basic Facts Boxes

L.I: to know how to do you addition and subtraction
Today I was finishing off my basic facts boxes. I did my addition and subtraction. When we are finished we will have to take a screenshot and write about it. We can do up to 10 or less. We will have to record and we will have to beat the teachers score. You can also do your time tables. 


Maths | Lengths of Pencils In LS1


L.I: to know the lengths of the pencils that are in LS1.
This week for Maths we were learning the lengths of the pencils that are in Ls1. First we had to add up the data from every group then we needed to count if we had 30 numbers in total. For this task we needed to work individually. When we measured the pencils we had used  a ruler. We had to put the top of the pencil at 0cm then we needed to see how long it was. When we did this task we needed to measure 10 pencils. If the pencils was pass 10 and nearly to 11 well then it would be eleven or if it was nearly to 10 then the answer would be 10. When we measured the pencils we needed to do it with a group of 4.

World Time | Maths

L.I: apply inquiry, literacy and numeracy skills to learn about the RWC.
This week we were doing a Rugby World Cup Challenge. We were finishing of the first slide before we went on the others.  We needed to search what time the finales will be held. The countries that we did were New Zealand, Australia, France, Fiji, Japan, South Africa, Canada, and the U.S.A. We needed to search up if the finales were held in the West Coast or East Coast.

Measuring | Maths

L.I: what is area and perimeter
This week for maths we were learning how to measure objects that was around the class. We had to measure 3 objects and we had to write down how we figured out the answer. For this maths task we needed to work individually. Individually means working by ourselves. We also needed to write down the area and the perimeter of the objects that we were using. I measured 2 playing boxes and I also measured a chrome book. The chrome book was 551cm spaced, the tune into tens box was 720cm, and the bingo box was 450cm.

L.I: What is perimeter and area. 
This week we were learning about the perimeter and the area of these shapes. We needed to make a google draw and we needed to write down the perimeter and the area. First we had to cut out some shapes on a paper then we needed to use the sala tape to tape it back together. For this maths task we needed to work individually. 


What is Perimeter:
Perimeter is the distance around the outside of a shape. 
What is Area:
Measures the capacity of the inside of the shape.
