Matariki celebration

Yesterday afternoon we had a big celebration for matariki. The kapa haka and the pacifica group preformed. We were at the junior park having this big celebration. In the kapa haka group they did there poi and the boys did the haka. In the pacifica group the girls have so swing there hips and the boys have to swing there legs. The leader for the girls was raera. Her aunty and cousin teached the pacifica how to move there hips side to side. After or off that we had the drumming people. The people that was drumming was Andrew, Junior, Mataio and Jona. The boy that teaches them was Mrs Matt. He touht them how to drum. At the end when they were drumming they all said Matariki. After when the drumming finished the luca lady group came up and started to singing the song lean on me. Even Whaea Odie joined in with them. Whaea odie was the one who teaches the kapa haka group. After when everyone finished we then had to line up and have our sausage sizzles. The juniors have to line up on the left and the seniors have to line up on the right side. When we had sausage sizzles we had to each and then the people that preformed could get another sausage. Some of the people had to share out some if they were full of sausages. After that we then had our lunch time and then we went back to class.

L.I To research about Matariki
Today we collaborated with LS2. We had to get into a group with a boy and a girl. The people that i worked with was Farzana, Ofa, Julian and Chris. We had to make a information Post about matariki. Matariki is the seven sisters. The seven sisters names are called Waiti, Waita, Waipuna-rangi, Tupua-nuku, Tupu-rangi, Uru-a-rangi and Matariki. Matariki is the biggest star. Matariki is the Maori new year its is when you cellabrate matariki. When you celebrate matariki you light up lamps and then you throw them in the sky.

Maori - Matariki

This morning for Maori we learnt about the maori new year for matariki.Matariki is about the seven sisters.We got a paper that we had to solve and when we finished we had to write at the back of the paper that waiti waita song.We had to solve it fast because we had to write about it and put it on our blog.We then sang the waiti waita song to the end and it was awesome.

Maori-Matariki

This morning we had Mari. We were learning about Matariki new year. For Maori we had it in workspace 2 and when we had to do work we had to watch the Matariki story of what happened.Our maori teacher is Wheae Odie.We had to partner up and the partner that i was with was florence.We watched matariki stories and how and when it happens. We sang some songs on the mat and one of them was Waiti waita song and the other one was Aio aroha koa koa koa pono song. Matariki is about the seven sisters there names are Waiti, Waita, Waipuna-a-rangi, Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, Uru-a-rangi and matariki.
