Kiwi Can reflections

Today we had another session of kiwi can. Our energiser today was called hammer. For this game we would need to get into partners. For this game I partnered up with Ong then Victoria. We would need to put our hands above eachothers. When miss says hammer we would need to hammer there hand. Our activity was called picture it. We needed to get into groups and act out the things she says.

Today we had another session for tech. Today we were learning how to code different types of games. We also learnt about Binary and Coding. 

Should we become a cashless society?

L.I: so we know what provocation is

This week we had been exploring both sides of Provocation. For this task we needed to work in pairs or groups. When we add photos on to our work we would need to be attributed. We needed to write, should we become a cashless society or shouldn't. We collaborated together we were talking about if NZ should or shouldn't.

Places named by early explorers

LI: to find places named by early explorers.
We needed to find places that are named after Captain James cook, Kupe, and Able Tasman. Places get named by friends or important people so that they are remembered or so that they can get money, or the could be named becuase of there physical appearance. the place could also be named of something that has happened or based of a myth of legend. 

Venn Diagram

Today for inquiry we needed to make a Venn diagram of Kupe and Captain James Cook. For this task we needed to do it with our groups. We had to collaborate with our team and communicate. Captain James Cook and Kupe are special explorers.

Tech Reflections

Today we had our second session at tamaki college for tech. For this session we were with Miss Ferguson. For this session we needed to try and make the Mbot make noise and change color. Year 7s were learning how to do coding, and how to control the Mbot's.

Kiwi Can Reflections

LI: To keep safe and play by the rules

Today we had our second session of Kiwi Can. Our theme for kiwi can is Positive Relationships - Fairness and Fairplay and our Topic was give it a go. Our energizer for today was called changing places. For our energizer we needed to get into partners. For this game we needed to put the cone in between us. When Miss Grace says the magic words then we would have to try and grab it before my partner grabs it. We then started to talk about Giving things a go. We them went into our Activity. The activity was called 1 v 1. For this game we needed to some dramatic moves to our partner. We then went into GKQ. For this we need to verse a boy and try and answer the question before they do. 

Tech | Tamaki College

Today we had our 1st session at tamaki college for tech. For tech we learn how to do science, Cooking, and more. For this session we were working with Miss Furgeson. For this day we were learning about robotics and how we can control them. We had given  a little robot that gets controlled by our Chromebooks. We needed to go on this site called Mblock. We then learnt about input, algorithms and output. 

Kiwi Sport | Cricket

In kiwi sport today we had a coach from HPPC to help us play cricket. For this game we needed to get into, to big groups. The other team would need to try and hit the cone to get a point and the other team would need to hit the tennis balls so there teammates can grab it. The skills that we learnt were Batting, Fielding, bowling, scoring, teamwork, and communication. When we were aiming for the cones we needed to use our techniques.  

We then needed to get into a big circle around Coach Bryan. He then started throwing tennis balls to everyone around the circle. If you mess the ball then we would need to get out of the circle. The winner for this warm up was Makili. 

Maths

Today in maths we worked together in our thinking groups to find the answer to two maths questions. In the image you would see my group working together. Our group, The numbertricians group is working out the value in our name. To do this we used addition strategies and our place value knowledge. 

In the second activity we worked as a group to put the population numbers in order. To do this we used our place value knowledge. 

National Current Events

This week we were learn about Current Events. For this activity we had links to four different news sites. from each news article we read, we had to go onto google maps, and locate where these events were happening . We also had to figure out if these news article's: Timeliness, Relevance, Magnitude, Unexpectedness, Impact, Reference to someone famous or important, Oddity, Conflict, Reference to something Negative, Continuity, Emotions, Progress.
